The Florida Department of Health has issued another blue-green algae alert in Palm Beach County.

The alert is in place for Lake Okeechobee at the Pahokee Marina and the C-51 canal-S155 upstream.

These have been areas plagued by toxic algae off and on for weeks and as temperatures continue to get warmer, experts think it will only get worse.

The health department says people should not drink, swim, or wade in areas where there is a visible bloom. If you come in contact with algae, wash your skin and clothing with soap and water. Keep pets away from the area.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection created an interactive map where people can track algae blooms and get updates on advisories.

Meanwhile, the Florida Blue-Green Algae Task Force will meet with Palm Beach County officials later this week to address the impact of the toxic algae crisis, including the recent water advisory in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach and South Palm Beach, due to dangerous toxins in the drinking water that are linked to blue-green algae.
