● Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging – it is a progressive brain disease that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior.

● Florida has the second highest number of people living with Alzheimer’s in the U.S., with more than 870,000 Floridians serving as unpaid family caregivers.

● There’s no cure for Alzheimer’s yet, but thanks to research, new treatments can slow the disease’s progression in its early stages—giving families more time with their loved ones.

● Over 7 million Americans are estimated to be living with Alzheimer’s

● 1 in 9 Americans age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s.

● 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men age 45 and older will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime.

● Research shows that older Hispanics are about one-and-a-half times as likely as older Whites to have Alzheimer’s and other dementias, while older Black Americans are about twice as likely.
