Miami, FL - According to a new study from Coworking Cafe, Miami has ranked as one of the top three healthiest cities in America, thanks to its high gym density, abundant healthy food options, and strong walkability.
Researchers analyzed over 60 major cities using ten wellness-related criteria, including access to gyms, healthy food options, walkability, and air quality.
Miami stood out with a high overall score of 64.77 out of 100.
It led the nation in gym and sports center access with 95 facilities per 100,000 residents.
It also topped the charts for availability of healthy food, boasting 129 grocery stores and specialty markets catering to nutritious diets.
Additional findings showed Miami had a strong walkability score of 76.6 and a bike friendliness rating of 64.
The average air quality was recorded at 51.3, considered acceptable by EPA standards.
Over 82% of residents have health insurance, and the city earned a high quality of life rating of 158.7.
Experts like Tyler Quinn from West Virginia University emphasized that social connections and neighborhood trust are just as important as infrastructure in encouraging healthier habits.
Miami’s combination of accessible resources and community structure may explain why it continues to rise in national rankings.
Only Minneapolis and Portland scored higher, making Miami the healthiest city in the South and one of the top wellness hubs in the country.
