FLORIDA - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis saw a significant jump in his personal finances in 2024, largely due to earnings from his political memoir.
According to newly released state financial records, DeSantis reported a net worth of over $2 million dollars at the end of December 2024.
That marks an increase of nearly 18% from the previous year.
The primary driver behind the increase was a $625,000 royalty payment from HarperCollins for his book The Courage to Be Free, which was released in early 2023.
The book deal has proven to be a lucrative asset for DeSantis, earning him the same amount in 2023 and $1.25 million in 2022, according to records.
Other than his author earnings, DeSantis’ only reported income for 2024 was his gubernatorial salary of just over $141,000.
He did not report owning any real estate and continues to live in the official governor’s residence with his family.
The financial report also detailed his various accounts, including over $1.3 million in a brokerage savings account, more than half a million in checking and savings, nearly $100,000 in a federal retirement plan, and more than $116,000 in the Florida Retirement System.
DeSantis’ only liability remains a student loan balance of around $15,000
State officials in Florida are required to submit annual disclosures listing their income, assets, and debts by July 1st of each year.
